It’s funny, because the creators of House actually based the character off Sherlock Holmes, hence the name, House/Home/Homes/Holmes and his only friend, Wilson/Watson

Yeah that’s a widely known fact isnt it. Another “funny” thing could be Arthur Conan Doyle’s chief inspirations for Sherlock Holmes are believed to come from Joseph Bell who’s also a physician.

The parallels are more than just the names. They both live at 221B. Music is important to both of them(Sherlock:violin/House:piano). Sherlock uses cocaine while House is a vicodin addict. Both are able to accurately deduce people’s motives and histories by just looking at them. They both are arrogant, cant stand stupidity and each have only one close friend(Watson/Wilson). Oh and the Irene Adler reference in s05e11 entitled “Joy to the World” in which Wilson made up a character named Irene Adler, calling her House’s one true love. Likewise, in season 2 finale “No Reasons”, House is shot by a man named Jack Moriarty.

Well I could just going on and on as the resemblance is evident throughout the series.
